Pokemon RP (Dane' and Lindy)

"So you still keen to join me on my Journey, I could really use your medical skills out in the field?”
At Valen's invitation Lira's heart skipped a beat.
"Of course i am!" She smiled.
"Let me get some supplies and we can set off!"
Lira hurried to nurse joy to check how she was doing and to say her goodbyes. Nurse joy was happy to see Lira's new pichu and gave her a thunder stone as a thank you for all the help during the fire. Lira did a last round on all of her patients and grabbed some food and medical supplies from the market.
Soon they were on their way to the orchard. The exitement of a new journey hung around Lira and all her tiredness was forgotten with the promise of a new adventure and new people.
"So Valen. Where are you from? And how did you end up here? I feel like we have spent a lot of time together and hardky know each other."

"So Valen. Where are you from? And how did you end up here? I feel like we have spent a lot of time together and hardy know each other."
Valen considered this for a moment, he then chuckled, “I guess you have a point there, I don’t know much about you either.” He kicked a small stone thoughtfully as they walked along a meadowy path.
“ Where to start, Hmm… well wasn’t born here in Kalos. I’m originally from lavender Town in the Kanto Region.” His expression seemed to darken briefly as his thoughts mulled over the memories left behind in Lavender Town. A shiver ran down his spine.
“We decided to relocate after the Town had been evacuated. No is really allowed there now, it’s too dangerous”, he added simply.
Deciding to change the subject, Valen picked a nearby a Leppa Berry and Passed it to Lira “What about you, where are you from?”
Munching on his own Berry, he passed another two to Absol and Ninetales.

"I'm from Mount lenakila on ula'ula island. It's always snowy there. That's where i got ninetales. My brother gave me a vulpix when i was very small. I used to snow board a lot and go down to the beach with my friends to surf. The weather on my island is very unpredictable."
As they walked there was a sudden cry from a small pokemon. Lira dashed off to the sound.

A baby magby was floating down a nearby stream, unable to swim. Lira reached for her pokeball and let her dratini out into the water to catch the magby. Dratini caught up quickly and lifted the magby out of the water. A girl came running up. Out of breath she stopped at magby and looked at Lira.
The girl thanked them for saving the magby, who had fallen into the river while picking berries, and after a bit chatting asked for a pokemon battle.

Lira agreed happily and the battle started. The girl sent out a bulbasaur and Lira went with dratini. The pokemon were locked in combat, neither seeming to give way under a wirlwind of rasor leave and dragon claw attacks. In the end bulbasaur fell over and dratini curled up to Lira.

Suddenly a light flashed and dratini seemed to ve the heart of it. With amazement Lira stared as dratini evolved into dragonair.

Taking on the role as referee for the Lira’s match, Valen raised his hand and called for the battle to begin.
Immediately the two trainers took charge and released their pokemon. Bulbasaur and Dratini burst into action through a veil of light, their attacks unrelenting as each pressed for victory.
The two pokemon fought well and hard, but in the end Dratini gained the advantage. It had been better trained and had more stamina to endure bulbasaurs attacks. With one final dragon claw it took its victory.
“Bulbasaur is unable to battle, The winner is Lira and Dratini!”
As Valen announced this, a strange light seemed to engulf Dratini. The Pokemon moved strangely as it evolved, its form changing and molding until the light vanished altogether to reveal the grand form of Dragonair.
“Wow, That’s a great looking Dragonair. Congratulations Lira! You should be proud”, Valen added excitedly. Pulling out his phone, he asked if he could take a photo of the newly evolved pokemon, after all it wasn’t every day that you got to see a shiny dragonair.

A little while later they were on the road again, they were close to the Berry Orchard by now and started to see plantations of trees and bushes all planted in neat lines. The Trees held the most delectable looking fruit Valen had ever seen, they were definably not the usual kind you found at markets or shops.
“Those fruits looks delicious”, he exclaimed.
His gaze suddenly seemed to dart searchingly towards the well-kept fields. A yelling sound was heard as it seem to grow louder as they made their way deeper into the plantation. ”Hey do you hear that?”
Soon the figure of farmer chasing a group of Murkrow came into view. Valen could see that the farmer was having a hard time protecting his crops.
Reaching for a pokeballs, Valen called, “Looks like he needs help. Ready Lira?”
Casting his pokeball, Valen released his Flaffy.

"Ready!" Lira replied as she reached for her pokeball.
"Help me out pichu!"
Pichu summer saulted out of its pokeball, ready to help.
"Stun them with thunder wave!"
Sparks flew from pichu as it stunned half af the Murkrow. With Valen and Flaffy helping the rest of the Murkrow fell.
The farmer was cowering behind them and thanked then profusely when the murkrow were out of the way.
"Thank you so much! Are you the pest control we sent out for! Thank goodness you came! The pokemon are out of control! We hardly have any of the crop left and the festival starts in a week! I don't know what to do!" He was out of breath when he finished.
"What's going on? What festival? And why are the pokemon acting this way. They shouldn't come mear humans if they are wild, unless something somewhere else is chasing them here..."

The farmer replied to Lira’s question with a worried tone, “We’re not sure what been happening with the Pokémon, but I suspect that there is a problem at their home up on the South Peak hill.”
Pointing towards a large rather craggy hill, the farmer added quickly, “It’s not just the Murkrow you see, it’s all the pokemon on that hill that have been coming down to eat away at our plantations. They never used to come down here before. It’s sad because now we don’t even have enough food for our yearly harvest festival. ”
Valen absorbed the information the farmer had provided, it was clear that the problem had to be resolved soon and that they could do this by going to South Peak hill.

“Don’t worry Sir, as a pokemon pest specialist, I will do everything I can to resolve this.”
Walking over towards one of the Murkrow, Valen picked up the pokemon and examined it thoroughly. It squawked angrily, but Valen handled it with a trained hand. He frowned as he noticed something, then turned to Lira, “These Pokemon are badly starved… but it’s strange, they shouldn’t be this under nourished if they have been eating everything in the plantation?”
Putting the Murkrow down, Valen flinched as the angry pokemon peaked his hand. It then flew towards its collection of food, grabbing what it could with its claws before flying back towards the hill.
Valen rubbed his head and sighed, “I think I know what’s happening here, but let’s follow that Murkrow to make sure. I really hope that I’m not right though.”

With that said, Valen returned Flaffy and released Rapidash.  Patting his stead affectionately, he then vaulted onto the horse’s back and extended a hand to Lira.
“Let us hurry.”

Lira took Valens hand and felt a tingle down her spine. This wasn't the time to be getting giddy. She hopped onto Rapidash and they were off.
When they got to the hill Lira gasped at what she saw. A massive pile of food was being devoured by a snorlax as fast as the forest pokemon could carry the food to it. The forest pokemon were looking under fed and exhausted and the snorlax was showing no signs of stopping.
Lira was thinking hard about what to do to help. Then she remembered something about snorlax.
"Valen, it wont stop until it has eaten 400kg of food. There is no way it will stop at the orchard. We have to get the towns people to help. If we don't either catch it or feed it until it falls asleep there's no telling what kind of destruction it will cause. If everyone in the town can bring any food they can spare, even the food that is going off, it will help. Snorlax has a rediculously good imune system, it can eat just about anything, if we don't give it something to eat it might go for the trees next."

Valen cringed at the sight of the Snorlax. Lira was right; there was no stopping it alone. He doubted that his own pokemon even had a chance at taking it down; it was definably far bigger than any regular snorlax he had ever seen.

A few torn up trees stood out against the thick brush of the forest. Looks like it has already started eating away at the forest.
Catching Lira’s eye, Valen added quickly, “The Berry Orchard is quite far from Town, but I’m certain we can get the local farmers to help. They should have a lot of extra food”
Looking back at the Snorlax, Valen furrowed his eyebrows, “Better not waste time, can you head to the east side farms? I’ll head to the west side.”

Within an hour farmers all over were driving tractors with food to the snorlax. It devoured everything and fell asleep.

The farmers cheered and the owner of the orchard offered them a bed for the duration of the festival. He was a nice man with a lovely family. Soon the festival was underway. Big rides were brought in and competitions were held from best pie to eating competitions and some pokemon routines. Lira was lining up to enter a routine when someone walked into her and she fell to the ground.
"So sorry!" The boy said and held out a hand to help her up. The shock on both their faces was apparent when they recognised each other.
Lira's heart skipped a beat and the world seamed to stand still.
"Luca? What are you doing here!? I thought you went to Johto?"
"I've been traveling around a lot. How have you been?"
"Uhm. I'm good. I've been great. Got a nursing degree and started traveling and all that..."

With a little help from the local farmers, Snorlax’s hunger soon became sated, and with a final gapping yawn it closed its eyes and drifted off to sleep.
Valen wasted no time in trying to catch it, he launched a pokeball directly at the snoring lump. A blaze of light enveloped the pokemon and in an instant it was caught.

The farmer who had summoned Valen was extremely grateful them, and even offered the two trainers a place to stay for the duration of the festival.
The next few days were spent assisting with the preparations of the festival. Food had to be cooked, posters painted (Valen helped here), games prepared, pokepuffs baked (Lira took the reins here). So many things to do, but it all proved worth it once the day of the festival came…

Valen gaze around excitedly as people and pokemon from all over Kalos came through to join in on the festivities. The boy had been looking for Lira, he was keen to compete against her in one of the many games.

Searching through the crowds of people, he eventually spotted her near one of the game booths. She was talking to someone, a boy about the same age as himself.
With a cheerful wave, Valen tried to catch her attention as he approached.
“Hey, I was just looking for you Lira”, He piped up happily,“Who’s your friend?”
Turning towards the strange boy, Valen offer his hand in greeting “Hi, I’m Valen. I’m a friend of Lira’s, it’s nice to meet you”

(I'm thinking that once Valen hears that Luca was Lira's love interest, he'll start to get jealous. Help me make him very jealous please. He's too damn nice to everyone XD)

Valen chose the worst moment to join in the conversation with Lira and Luca.
"Uh. Hey Valen. This is, uhm, Luca. He's a... An old friend, i guess"
"Oh Lira, don't be so shy. I'm Luca, Lira's ex. Nice to meet you." Luca shook Valen's hand.
Lira couldn't help but fear what came next with Luca. He didn't have to be so forward and it bothered her to have Valen know about their past. She felt the sudden urge to flee and was very happy to see that they had reached the front of the line.
"Pardon me, competition stuff to attend to. Valen, didn't you want to come help me?" (Please don't stay here with Luca.....)
"Oh i would love to..." Luca began, but was cut off by Lira: "see you round!" (Although hopefully not....)
She pulled Valen by the arm toward the booth and quickly filled out the forms. She noticed she must have looked as upset as she felt by the way Valen stared at her.

Shaking Luca’s hand, Valen felt tension forming between them. He had been caught off guard by Luca’s comment and was surprised to learn that this stranger had once been Lira’s boyfriend.
Now usually Valen wouldn’t have been particularly bothered by this, but he had grown strangely protective of Lira. She had become a very dear friend to him, and Valen wasn’t one to make friends easily - He spent far too much time moving around to anyone close to him.

The Two boys seemed to stare each other down. It was only once Lira began to speak did they stop.
"Pardon me, competition stuff to attend to. Valen, didn't you want to come help me?
Valen nodded, “Yeah, I can help” He felt Lira lead him away towards the competition booth.

Once they had lost sight of Luca, Valen’s ice blue eyes seemed to meet Lira’s. She had grown pale from that encounter and he could read the anxiety from her expression.
Touching the girl’s face gently, Valen smiled, “Don’t stress so much, Today you should be having fun” With a cheerful wink, Valen assisted with filling out their competition forms. He still felt uneasy about Luca, but was determined not to allow that to ruin Lira’s day.

A loud whistle signalled the start of competition. The first event on the list was target practise – the object of the game was for the pokemon to hit as many flying and pop-up targets as possible. They were only allowed to use long ranged attacks like flamethrower, razor leaf, Watergun ect.
Valen took his place beside Lira. He was surprise to find Luca competing too, though made a flat out point to ignored the boy.
Turing his attention to Lira, He teased playfully, “Round once is on, don’t fall behind now Princess”
Picking his Dewdong for this first challenge, Valen released the pokemon from its pokeball. It happily greeted him and prepared itself for the game.

Lira felt herself blush when Valen touched her cheek. She couldn't think straight right now, but he was taking such good care of her.
She was determined to have fun, even if just to make him happy.
They were lined up at the first competition. Disks went flying and ninetales let loose with icebeam, hitting almost every target perfectly. Valen's dewgong did well too. The disks started coming faster and smaller and one by one competitors started falling out untill just Valen and Luca were left.
Lira cheered for Valen but in the end Luca won. Afterwards Lira was talking to Valen and Luca came up to her.
"Pretty impressive right? You know i miss you a lot. Maybe after the festival you should join me, now that you are able to leave." He put his hand under Lira's chin and she pulled it back angrily.
"Just leave me alone." She stormed off and found a quiet corner to curl up. Ninetales curled it's tails around her affectionately. She felt sobs coming. Why did he have to be here...

The completion had dwindled down to just Valen and Luca. It was standoff between the two of them.
It had been a good game, Valen of course had had no intention of losing to Luca. Unfortunately as he eyed his dewdong, he could see that the pokemon was exhausted. The title of winner soon slipped out of his grasp and went to Luca.
Crouching down beside his tired Dewdong, Valen grinned encouragingly at the pokemon and gave it a hug, “You did great, I’m so proud of you Dewdong.” It was clear that Valen had taken the loss a little hard, but he stood up and quickly shrugged it off. “Return Dewdong, get some rest”

Spotting Lira, Valen quickly joined up with her. They had both received a few berries for participating in the game and had begun discussing recipes of pokepuffs they could make for the next event.
They were mid-way through their discussion, when suddenly a familiar voice interrupted them.
"Pretty impressive right? You know i miss you a lot. Maybe after the festival you should join me, now that you are able to leave."
Valen stared coldly at Luca. The arrogant boy had his hand beneath Lira’s chin, cooing to her as he spoke. Valen had had enough of this, he moved to grab Luca’s arm, but Lira beat him to it. She snapped furiously at Luca, before storming off into the crowd.
Luca wanted to pursue her, but Valen grabbed him by the shirt with surprising strength and shoved him backwards. Blocking Luca’s path, Valen growled, “Don’t you think you’ve done enough. She just told you that she wants to be alone”

Luca ripped Valen's hand from his shirt.
"Look pal. I appreciate you looking after my girl for me, but i have no intention of leaving without her. Lira is mine, get that straight."
The tention between the two boys were high.
"But if you insist on fighting me for it, let's see who is best by competing for her affectiom in the competitions.'

Valen gritted his teeth, he was furious, “Lira doesn’t belong to anyone, and she definably does not belong to you.” he growled. Taking in a deep breath, he calmed himself and took on Luca’s challenge, “Fine, lets compete… But just so you know, you’re going to lose.”
A fire seemed to burn inside Valen, he had grown frightening serious and followed Luca to a competition consisting of five Challenges.
‘I hope that you’re okay Lira. Once I beat this jerk I’ll make sure that you are smiling again.’

The first two challenges, Valen had won in a heartbeat. They had been challenges of speed and flight ability, Rapidash and Noivern had not disappointed him. The next two challenges had gone to Luca, for strength and swimming ability.
When only one challenged remained, the two boys were once again at a standoff, Valen was not going to lose this time round, no friggn way.

Luca and Valen were stuck in a full on pokemon fight, both looked furious and unyealding. It was an impressive battle and Lira was glad to see Valen givinf Luca a beat down until Luca said: "I won't let you win Lira from me. She is mine!"
Lira felt hot with anger and she felt herself starting to shake. She walked into the middle or the battle field and the pokemon stopped in their tracks, mid attack.

"Is THAT what this is about!? I childish contest to... What? 'Win' me? I'm not a prize! I have free choice and honestly, if it were up to me, i'd say to hell with you both at this stage!" As she turned around and stormed off she felt tears threaten to spill from her eyes. What was going on with them? She didn't know either of them like this.

She realised it was almost time for her contest to begin. She got dressed and waited backstage, trying to get her emotions under control. When they anounced her she looked at her pokemon and forsed a smile.
"Let's have fun. Arceus knows i need it right now."
When the lights hit her and she started her routine everything seemed to fade away. She felt light and happy and her pokemon were gleeful. As she turned her stomach dropped when she saw Luca staring at her from the crowd. She finished her routine and hurried backstage.
Why couldn't he just leave her alone?
She got called to the stage again and the prizegiving comenced.
She came in second place and was thrilled, hugging her pokemon and thanking them for their hard work. Then she sat back stage and wondered what to do next.

The battle with Luca commenced. Both boys fought hard, Valen using his Noivern and Luca using his Charizard. It was difficult, but Valen eventually gained the upper hand. He was about to release his final attack, but stopped mid-way.
Lira had suddenly leaped onto the battle field, Arms stretched out wide as she halted the fighting.
She yelled at them both, fury shaking her small form, "Is THAT what this is about!? A childish contest to... What? 'Win' me? I'm not a prize! I have free choice and honestly, if it were up to me, i'd say to hell with you both at this stage!"
Saying what needed to be said; Valen watched her storm off back towards the festival.
He knew she was right, but hadn’t he been fighting to prove that point. That she Lira, didn’t belong to anyone.
Valen felt confused, He also felt guilty and returned Noivern to its pokeball. “This battle is over”, he added coldly, His eyes burning into Luca as he turned to leave.

Taking a long walk through the market area of the festival, Valen tried to distract himself from his thoughts. He was still flustered from the fight with Luca and Lira.
He decided that some food would help ease his mind. Picking up a few snacks, he then made his way towards a seating area near the competition stage.
He turned his attention to his meal. Once his stomach was full, he then turned his thoughts to the show on stage. He was surprised to find Lira competing too. When the show came to an end and the prizes had been given out, Valen stood up and made his way backstage. It was time to apologize, he needed to make things right.

With an extra cappuccino in hand, he searched the backstage area till he found Lira. She looked a bit happier.
“Hey”, he greeted softly. Passing her the cappuccino, he added, “That was a good performance”. It was awkward at first, but Valen persistence, “I’m sorry for the way I acted before.”

Lira sipped at the much needed coffee. She was still a bit mad. But she was eager to gind out what had happened.
"Why were you fighting him? I just don't understand. I know i've only known you a short while but it isn't like you. And to be honest, it isn't like Luca either. He used to be so nice and encouraging. When did he become so crazy and possesive?"

Valen mulled briefly over the events that had transpired between him and Luca - It had been one crazy day. He sighed with slight guilt, then replied, “We started fighting because I lost my temper…After you left he tried to chase after you, but I stopped him. Things got a little personal from there on out. It ended up being a battle more over pride that anything else.”
Taking a seat next to Lira, he twiddled his thumbs for moment, “I hate it when people think that they can just take whatever they want. I think that’s what made me so angry.”
With a concerned expression, he looked back at Lira, “You mentioned that Luca hadn’t always been like this? If I may ask, What did you mean by that?”

Lira felt a bit guilty for snapping at Valen now. She didn't really want to talk about her past but she took a breath and steeled herself.
"We grew up together. We always went on adventures together and eventually we fell in love. I was very happy with him and i thought he was too. He was sweet and really a great boyfriend. One day after school my parents forced me to continue my studies and he wasn't willing to wait so he left. I felt so alone and abandoned." She whiped tears off her cheeks.
"I just wish he weren't such a jerk now. I honestly don't understand what happened to him."
She paused to get her emotions under control.
"I'm sorry i was mean to you. I didn't know... I'm very grateful that you stood up for me." She leaned her head on his shoulder.

Taking in all that Lira had said, Valen could now understand why she had gotten so upset - One of her oldest friends even lover had changed, but not for the good.
Valen rubbed the girl’s head soothingly as she rested on his shoulder. “It’s okay; honestly you had every right to be mad…I was way out of line” A Blush seemed to taint Valen’s cheeks as he added guiltily, “ You see I travel around so much; it makes it difficult to make friends. So the friends I do, I become a little over protective of them”

After a few minutes, Valen helped Lira to her feet. “Well we’ve had quite a hectic day. Shall we finish it off with some pokepuff bakng?” Lira’s pokemon seemed to perk up at those words as did Valen’s Flaffy and Absol.

Valen and Lira baked as a team. Rapidash heated the oven and ninetales made lovely frost on the pokepuffs making a beautiful glint. The judges tasted each pokepuff and Lira squeezed Valens and out of nerves. When they started anouncing winners her heart dropped as the went up from 5th to 2nd place without mentioning them, then they said: "and our winners are Lira and Valen!" She stared at him in disbelief then jumped up to hug him. The stepped forward to get the big basket of fruits and berries they had won.
After that she felt exhausted.
"Let's get to bed." As they were standing in front of her room she looked up at Valen.
"Thanks a lot for cheering me up. It was great having a good friend looking out for me." She kissed his cheek and wemt into her room. She couldn't help but feel giddy. He really is a nice guy...

The pokepuff competition had been a huge success, not only had they won the event and claimed first prize. They had also had a tremendous amount of fun - It was as though the troublesome events earlier hadn’t even happened.

When Evening time came, both trainers were completely exhausted and ready for bed.
"Thanks a lot for cheering me up. It was great having a good friend looking out for me."
Standing in front of Lira’s room, Valen felt Lira’s lips brush against his cheek as she kissed him. He was surprised by the kiss and blushed a deep shade of red. “No problem, That’s what friends are for… Sleep tight Lira”
With a goofier smile than usual, Valen felt himself ‘floating’ towards his own room. He slept very well that night, his dreams littered with happy thoughts.

The next few days were spent resting and training alongside their pokemon. Valen and Lira traded tips on different types of training techniques; they also spent a lot of time working on Valen’s first aid training which need some brushing up on.

On the fourth day of their stay, their host Mr. Digsby mentioned a pokemon problem that had occurred in Ambrette Town. There had apparently been an issue with local ocean pokemon, there that needed some investigating.
Keen as always on a new Challenge, Valen packed up his Bags and prepared Noivern for Flight.
“So Lira, you ready to fly? Taking Noivern will cut our travel time in half.”

"Flying sounds like great fun!" Lira smiled.
as they were about to leave Luca came up to Lira and whispered to her.
"You might not know it now, but you will be mine. We belong together. I will see you again soon, my pidove"
A chilk ran down Lira's spine and she felt a cold sweat breaking out. She hoped he was wrong.
She and Valen went off. She held onto him a little more tightly than necisary, Luca's words echoing in her head.
When they reached the next town Lira could clearly see the problem. The tide was rolling in and pulling back every few minutes, going between high tide and low tide. There seemed to be a lot of water pokemon gathering near the shore and they all seemed to be agitated.
Groups of people were trying to fight of the mass of pokemon that formed. Which only made the tide worse. Salt water was spilling into the town and any crops nearby, drowning whatever grew.
Lira had never seen pokemon behave this way before.
They landed and Lira and Valen went to investigate.
